Winds of change

It's bittersweet that I have to make this blog, but sometimes the winds do not blow in your intended direction. As you know I made some big changes to my career and my life. After a few months I determined that that new direction was just not for me. Plain and simple, I was not cut out for the tides and tribulations of a production based job. And that's it in a nutshell.

Fortunately, I saw this coming and set the wheels rolling. I am happy to say that I re-applied and was rehired for my position at VADEQ. Now as for ROA, the plan is to keep making outdoor content and providing one-on-one fly-fishing and kayak fishing instruction.

Oh and we have also added a new filming platform to our livery, a 2014 Cast and Blast 17cc. She is getting a bit of love and an eventual repower. Stay tuned we will have more about the skiff project.

Stay Tuned.

Back Bay Interview Series.

Hello Folks,

Hope your new year has gotten off to a great start. Ours surely has, I have been working on editing the interviews shot while filming Back Bay. if you have not seen here it is.

If you have seen Back Bay then you know we had some great folks giving their insight on the Largemouth Bass fishery there. I have taken these interviews and made extended versions. So now you can see everything they said about Back Bay. Ill release one each month leading up to my final interview with the late Lefty Kreh. The first is with VDGIF fisheries biologist Chad Boyce. I've known Chad for decades and even worked with him at VMRC. He has some great insight and has done some great work on Back Bay. So enjoy the interview and we will be working on getting Walt Cary's interview up in February.  Here is Chad's extended interview. Thanks for viewing.

Passing on Knowledge.

The recent loss of Lefty has inspired me to go about my fishing a little differently. It's only been days but the reality of this loss still hits me in the gut. I feel the best way to honor him is to learn more and teach more. So Lefty if you watching I am going to do my best to be like you.

A while back I took a young man Nigel Wright on a trip sponsered by a mentoring fellowship. He chose me as his mentor for the weekend. So from here I am going to direct you to his blog. So he can tell the story. Good Times.

Walt Cary

Just now winding down from an awesome Saturday. It started with the Back Bay/Knott's Island Waterfowl Festival. Chris Ludford asked me to show Back Bay there. I asked Walt Cary to join me..he accepted instantly. I also asked Wesey Hutchinson with Whiskey Run Custom Calls to join us. Needless to say our table was very popular.

Walt Spun out Poppers along with tales of Flyfishing during the heydays of Back Bay.

Walt's Silver Gudgen Minnow was the first fly to sell out. This was the pattern that he tied for Lefty Kreh.

The highlight was seeing Walt reunite with his old fishing buddy Tom Snyder.

This is a pic of a typical day with these two. They would have to be the last name to sign up on the tournament boards or folks would not compete with them. Who blames them..lol.

We're Back!

For 2018 we are going to try and post a video once a month. We will start with a short documentary we filmed last summer about Back Bay. It features Lefty Kreh and Walt Cary. Enjoy.
